Brief Introduction
On Finding the Right Therapist
Dr. Riddel earned his first B.A. from Baylor University in 2009, followed by a B.A. in Psychology and an M.S. in Counseling from the University of North Texas. While completing his graduate studies, he was inducted into Chi Sigma Iota, the international counseling honor society, and was also a member of American Mensa and the American Counseling Association. He later completed his Ph.D. in Counseling at Texas A&M University–Commerce and is currently a member of the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Riddel is a licensed professional counselor and the founder of a private practice in Southlake, Texas. He offers therapy for adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, stress, trauma, relational challenges, and major life transitions. His approach integrates evidence-based methods within an existential framework — combining practical strategies for symptom relief with deeper exploration of meaning, identity, and personal growth.
Many of Dr. Riddel’s clients describe feeling capable in many areas of life, yet disconnected, overwhelmed, or uncertain about what’s next. Therapy offers a space to slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and reconnect with purpose. It’s not about perpetual self-work—it’s about finding balance and insight that extend into daily life. His work often moves beyond symptom relief toward helping clients live with greater clarity, authenticity, and connection.
Because he practices independently, every part of the process — from scheduling to sessions — is handled directly with him, ensuring privacy, consistency, and personalized care.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Riddel serves as Director of Counseling for a nonprofit organization based in Richardson. Outside of work, he enjoys film, baseball, and time with his family.
